Safer Cycling In Schools

Written by Daria Elena Stoian Age 13 Sovere Middle School, Bergamo April 2026
A student's perspective

Learning how cycling can connect language, geography, practical safety and real-world experiences.

The activity was a great experience that combined Geography, English and practical safety. We learned that communication is important while cycling, using hand signals to stay safe on the road. The “This or That” game was a fun way to improve our speaking skills while discussing travel and habits. It was very useful to see how a passion for bikes can become a professional tour across Italy. I personally found this experience very nice because the experts were so welcoming and patient with us. Even though I don’t usually go cycling, I really enjoyed the time we spent together. It was great to learn how to be safe on the road and I appreciated the kindness of Lucy and Giulio.
