Stages of your Tour

  1. Benvenuti and Leg-Loosener

    30 km, 250m Elevation

The one of the hallmarks of a great holiday that you feel relaxed from the moment you set foot on foreign soil. Our friendly staff will be on hand to meet you at the airport or the designated meeting point, and transfer you the short distance to the hotel in Rimini overlooking the Adriatic coast. With plenty of time to relax before we hop on the bikes and take a quick spin along the seafront to check bikes and get some fresh air in the lungs. Dinner this evening is served al fresco style overlooking the Adriatic Sea. The perfect start to the perfect holiday.

    Adriatic Coast - Rimini

  2. Rimini - Bagno di Romagna

    74 km, 1200m Elevation

As is obligatory on all our coast to coast tours, we dip our wheels in the Adriatic coast and take a group photo with the Adriatic as our back ground. With the now familiar face of Fausto as your guide, we hop on the bikes and weave our way out of Rimini into the heart of Emilia Romagna at Bagno. The delightful region is much underrated and the beautiful cycling through rural farm lands and medieval villages make for an idyllic start to the week. Our final destination is the town of the spa town Bagno di Romagna. The hotel Spa no doubt your final call before dinner.

    Bagno di Ramagna

  3. Bagno Romagna Arezzo

    65 km, 1050m Elevation

Our extraordinary journey continues through the countryside of Emilia Romagna. Today is a challenging day on the bike for both those on the road bike and EBike, we have two climbs to enjoy and are rewarded with spectacular views of Tuscany on reaching the top. As ever with our holidays a relaxed atmosphere and van is always close by for those that wish to catch a ride. Our final destination of the day is Arezzo. The Piazza Grande on the most beautiful squares in Italy. Dinner this evening in a cracking pizzeria under the church tower.

    Arezzo

  4. Arezzo to POGGIBONSI

    90km, 800m Elevation

This morning we leave Arezzo and head west again to the beautiful Siena. Todays ride is synonymous with the famous strade bianche (white roads) which can be ridden on road, gravel and E-Bikes. On arrival at the hotel there will be time for a shower and enjoy the outdoor pool. As is customary with our coast to coast tours we now allow clients to enjoy the afternoon and evening in Siena exploring at their leisure. The ride the next day also starting slightly later so you can enjoy the magnificent sunrise over the Chianti hills. World class in every way.

    Poggibonsi

  5. Poggibonsi TO San Miniato

    56km, 850m Elevation

In the late morning we hope back on the bikes for our penultimate day in the saddle. The tour starts with a short climb out of Poggibonsi that allows the most spectacular views of the Tuscany countryside. The ride that follows allows you to discover the best of Tuscany. Cycling through Italy’s
most beautiful region. It is also much easier than the start of the week and allows you to really take in the scenery. Today we stop for a spot of wine tasting (optional!) and tour of a typical vineyard before we finish the day in This evening’s dinner is enjoyed in a local trattoria.

    San Miniato

  6. San Miniato to Pisa

    66km, 150m Elevation

You have made it! Well not quite, a healthy breakfast and another sumptuous cappuccino will fire you up for your final and easy day on the bike as we continue our journey west alongside the River Arno. After passing several stunning little villages we arrive in Pisa to take the obligatory photos with the Learning Tower of Pisa in the background. The final 10km of the ride take us slightly downhill to Viareggio. On arrival we dip our wheel in the sea just as we had done 6 days before on the Adriatic coast. Mission complete, you have done it. A ride of a cycling lifetime. This evening’s celebratory meal will be al fresco style overlooking the sun setting on the Mediterranean. A chance to reminisce with new friends about the trip, and who knows maybe think about joining us the following year……….

I have made friends I will keep for a lifetime on this trip. The Stelvio was on my bucket list for many years. It didn’t disappoint. I have been with several other operators but never returned. I will be returning to Italy Bike Tours as soon as I can. Thank you Alberto and the team!
