Our adventure begins with sunrise over the Adriatic and a coffee in Rimini, before we set off westward into the rolling hills and timeless beauty of central Italy. This is cycling in Italy at its finest — where every turn reveals historic towns, scenic vineyards and landscapes steeped in culture.
Highlights of this unforgettable ride include pedaling through Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance, exploring the medieval streets of Siena, and crossing some of Tuscany’s most beautiful countryside on the way to the western coast.
The journey finishes in the iconic city of Pisa, where a celebratory al fresco dinner overlooking the Mediterranean awaits — the perfect finale to a coast-to-coast cycling holiday you’ll never forget.

As with every beautiful coast-to-coast journey, we begin by dipping our wheels into the shimmering Adriatic Sea - a symbolic start beneath the endless Italian sky.
We pedal away from the lively streets of Rimini and into the enchanting heart of Emilia-Romagna. Here, rolling farmland and timeless medieval villages create a postcard-perfect backdrop for your ride.
Our day ends in the tranquil spa town of Bagno di Romagna, where you can unwind with a soothing spa experience before savoring a delicious Italian dinner - la dolce vita at its finest.
Bagno di Romagna
Our adventure continues through the rolling countryside of Emilia-Romagna. Today offers a rewarding challenge for both road cyclists and E-bike riders, with two scenic climbs that lead to breathtaking views over the Tuscan hills. But don’t worry - as with all our cycling trips in Italy, the support van is always nearby, ensuring flexibility and comfort throughout the day.
We arrive in the historic city of Arezzo, home to the stunning Piazza Grande - one of the most beautiful squares in Italy. In true Italian fashion, the evening ends with a well-earned dinner at a lively pizzeria tucked beneath a centuries-old church tower.
Arezzo
This morning, we leave Arezzo and head west toward the stunning city of Siena, one of Tuscany’s most iconic cycling destinations. Today’s route follows the world-famous Strade Bianche - the legendary white gravel roads of Italy - perfect for road, gravel, or E-bike tours.
Upon arrival, unwind at the hotel, enjoy a refreshing shower, relax by the outdoor pool, and savor a delightful olive oil tasting experience.
The afternoon is yours to explore Siena’s medieval streets, sample local cuisine, and soak up the charm of this timeless Tuscan gem.
Siena
Today, we’ll start our ride from charming Siena, winding through the beautiful rolling hills of Tuscany sprinkled with vineyards and olive trees. You’ll love the peaceful country roads and the chance to discover quaint little villages along the way. The route has just the right mix of gentle climbs and easy descents, making for a truly enjoyable ride.
We’ll finish in lovely San Miniato, where you can relax and soak up the town’s warm atmosphere and delicious local dinner.
San Miniato
You’ve made it - well, almost! A healthy breakfast and a final, rich Italian cappuccino will fuel you for one last easy ride along the beautiful River Arno. Passing through charming Tuscan villages, we reach Pisa for the must-have photo with the Leaning Tower of Pisa before continuing the final gentle stretch to Viareggio.
Here, tradition calls: we dip our front wheel in the Mediterranean Sea, just as we did six days earlier on the Adriatic coast - marking the end of an unforgettable coast-to-coast cycling adventure.
This evening, we celebrate together with an al fresco dinner overlooking the sunset on the sea - the perfect moment to toast new friendships, share memories of the rides, and perhaps dream about your next bike tour in Italy!
Viareggio
All good things must come to an end, and this morning we’ll assist with your transfer to Florence train station or help arrange private transfers upon request.

- Total Kilometers: Around 400 km over 6 days, with extra challenge options available.
- When: April - October.
- Start: The tour begins in Rimini, with easy access from nearby airports.
- Finish: The tour ends in Pisa, with transfers to Firenze Airport.
- Nearest Airport: Bologna Airport is the perfect option for arrivals, Firenze Airport for departures.
- Top Tip: Spring and autumn offer excellent riding conditions - mild weather and fewer crowds.
- Average Age of Guest: Mostly 45-60, but open to all ages.
- Male vs Female %: Well balanced, ideal for groups of friends, couples, and solo travelers alike.
Please arrange to meet us at Bologna Airport (BLQ) at 2 pm on Day 1. 24 hours before meeting we will contact you via WhatsApp to confirm the name of staff member meeting you.
Following the conclusion of the tour we will assist you with planning and booking of onward travel. A group transfer to Florence train station will depart from the hotel at 10:30 am on Day 7. For alternative destinations or departure times, please contact us at alberto@italybiketours.com.
Please consider eating lunch before we collect you from Bologna. The transfer time from Bologna to Rimini is 1h30 on Day 1. Transfer time from Pisa to Florence is 1h on Day 7.
The general road conditions in Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany are very good. The majority of roads are asphalt, but we will also be riding on some gravel roads - they are in good condition and can be enjoyed on a road, gravel or E-Bike.
The food as one may expect in Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany is excellent - some might say the best in Italy. There are a lot of local specialities that you can look forward to enjoying. Restaurants now cater for both vegan and vegetarians. Homemade local wines and beer - a must to try.
The hotels on this tour have pools and spas so we recommend bringing swimming costumes. The hotels also have good WiFi and bar service. All our hotels have air conditioning. Hotels may charge extra for the use of these facilities.
We welcome the opportunity to discuss a private tour with you should you be in a group of six or more. A private tour allows you to choose dates and personalize the itinerary according to your requirements.
The weather in Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany is excellent 9 months a year. It can be hot in July and August and those that prefer to ride in cooler conditions should consider joining us in April, May, September or October. Ride times may be adjusted to take into account any weather changes.
