Our Puglia tour in June with IBT was excellent. The timely and informative pretour correspondence from the team gave us confidence and we were rewarded with a great support driver Simone and bike guide Matteo. The central locations of Conversano and Matera allowed us to enjoy the historical towns, festivals and local culture as well as great riding, without moving each day. There was flexibility, stopping for photos and one day we opted for a shorter day and more sightseeing. We had some surprise inclusions which were wonderful. We made great friends with Simone and Matteo, and they coped with our Aussie humour! "VOLARE" "Chuck a U-ey"

I wish I could give IBT six stars. The service was nothing short of impeccable and the company members throughout were fun-loving, adventurous & considerate souls. Our guide, Pavel, may have been the most-spirited in this regard. Pavel’s ability to literally & figuratively “go the extra mile” on our behalf was seemingly limitless. In short, we can’t thank IBT, and particularly Pavel, enough for turning the hope of a custom Lombardy Tour into a dream-like experience.

We did the Pugulia Bike Tour in the south of Italy. Would rate it 5 out of 5. The bikes along the ocean had great views. We had a boat tour booked but the ocean was too rough. Pavel and Nicola organized additional bike ride up to a winery, it was impromptu and the highlight of the trip. The guides (Pavel and Nicola) really know their stuff they were able to fit the bike perfectly for my 10 year old son. Matera at the end was great, the hotel was incredible and the walking tour was a great way to see the city. The guides also knew all the routes and kept the rides fun and safe. Would highly recommend.

Fausto was the best! He and Carlo both helped to determine the proper fit for our bikes. They were friendly and flexible with our routes and times. The scenery was beautiful, foods good, hotels great. We will never forget this trip. It was wonderful.

We had an exceptionally enjoyable cycle tour with Christian (guide) and Marco (support) through the Italian Northern Lakes. We were well looked after and found the various daily biking routes varied and scenic. The final day's bike to the Ghisallo Cycling Museum was a highlight and a great way to complete the tour. The range of accommodation and location of the various hotels was well planned as well as the wine tasting, coffee sampling and dinners out all added to the experience. Well done Italy Bike Tours.

Ride through the heart of Puglia, from the Adriatic coast and iconic trulli of Alberobello to the whitewashed streets of Ostuni and the ancient stone city of Matera — combining beautiful cycling, local flavours and unforgettable cultural experiences.

Your cycling adventure begins as we welcome you at Bari Airport and transfer you to your accommodation. After a quick bike fit to get everything perfectly adjusted, we'll head out for a beautiful warm-up ride to Polignano a Mare - a postcard-perfect coastal town perched dramatically above the Adriatic Sea. It's the ideal way to start your journey through the heart of southern Italy.

In the evening, we'll gather for a welcome aperitivo to toast the week ahead, followed by dinner at the best pizzeria in the area - the perfect mix of good company, local flavors, and that unmistakable Italian atmosphere.

Corte Altavilla | Conversano

Today's ride is nothing short of spectacular! We'll cycle to Alberobello, a truly unique town and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its iconic trulli houses. There will be plenty of time to stroll through the winding streets, explore this magical place, and enjoy a coffee in the main square.

After a few more kilometers on the bike, we'll stop at a traditional olive oil mill, where you'll taste different varieties of locally produced oils paired with authentic regional dishes - the perfect way to savor the rich flavors of Puglia during a memorable lunch experience.

Corte Altavilla | Conversano

Today's destination is the stunning "White City" of Ostuni, perched on a hill overlooking the Adriatic Sea and surrounded by endless stretches of ancient olive trees - a true symbol of Puglia.

Before reaching Ostuni, we'll pass through Monopoli, a charming seaside town where we'll stop for a well-deserved second breakfast or coffee break by the water.

After the ride, you'll have the option to return by van and enjoy a relaxing afternoon - the perfect way to unwind after another beautiful day on the bike.

Corte Altavilla | Conversano

Today we'll change hotels and ride towards Matera, the third-oldest city in the world and one of Italy's most fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The route winds through the quiet countryside, surrounded by the iconic dry-stone walls of Puglia - timeless symbols of local tradition.

Along the way, we'll stop for a typical Puglian lunch at one of the most authentic restaurants in the area, where you'll taste the genuine flavors of southern Italy.

Our hotel in the heart of Matera promises a truly unique experience - after all, sleeping among the ancient "Sassi" cave dwellings is something you don't get to do every day.

Palazzo del Duca | Matera

Today's loop ride takes us to Altamura, a beautiful and one-of-a-kind town famous for its legendary Altamura bread. We'll enjoy a truly authentic experience with lunch inside a historic bakery, where you'll taste the freshly baked bread that made this town famous throughout Italy.

In the afternoon, we'll discover Matera on foot with a guided walking tour, uncovering its fascinating stories, hidden corners, and centuries-old secrets.

In the evening, we'll gather for our final dinner together, sharing laughter, memories, and the best moments of this unforgettable cycling journey.

Palazzo del Duca | Matera

On our final day, we'll start early with a sunrise ride, enjoying the quiet roads and the soft morning light - the perfect way to awaken the legs and the spirit one last time. With no traffic and the golden glow of dawn, it's a peaceful and energizing experience to wrap up our week together.

After the ride, we'll enjoy a well-deserved breakfast before the transfer to Bari Airport, carrying home unforgettable memories of southern Italy's beauty, flavors, and friendship.

The food is excellent in Puglia. Restaurants now cater for both vegan and vegetarians. If you have any special dietary requirements please advise us on the questionnaire. There a lot of traditional food, Olive Oil (Puglia is one of the largest producers of olive oil in Italy), "Pugliese" bread, Orecchiette, a small, ear-shaped pasta, Burrata and Mozzarella, Pasticciotto (a famous Puglian dessert) and wine (Primitivo and Negroamaro are two red grape varieties that thrive in the region, producing robust and flavorful wines).

The hotels on this tour have spas and we recommend bringing swimming costumes. The hotels also have laundry service, good WiFi and bar service. Hotels may charge extra for the use of these facilities.
