Stages of your Tour

  1. DAY 1

    30km | Flat

On arrival at the airport you will be met by one of our friendly staff and transferred (heading East) towards the north towards the topside of Lake Iseo. Lake Iseo is a little hidden gem.

For those hiring bikes, our staff will ensure the bikes fit perfectly making any adjustments necessary. Fitting pedals, lights, saddles etc. is our job and not yours! In the late afternoon we will head off on our first ride along the northern part of Lake Iseo. Our destination is Riva di Solto. This beautiful ride is the perfect start to your trip.

Lake Iseo | Hotel La Pieve | Pisogne

  2. Day 2

    70km | Flat

This morning we ride a lap around the lake. Our ride today is the longest of the week, but in many ways the easiest. With little traffic, flat roads, and Europe’s best cycle paths, this really is what great cycling holidays are all about. We will delight in showing you why Lake Iseo is regarded as the best-kept secret in Italy. Lovere, a town synonymous with the Giro d’Italia, is our coffee stop for sure.  Of all the northern Lakes it is Lake Iseo that offers the most for cyclists of all abilities.

    Lake Iseo

  3. Day 3

    50km | Rolling

We start with breakfast overlooking Lake Iseo and you’ll have some free time in the morning to explore the local market. Today’s ride is stunning. We head south away from Iseo into the wine region of Franciacorta. It is difficult to imagine two contrasting areas to cycle (Lake Iseo and Franciacorta). Within 10 minutes we leave the shores of the lake and wind our way through endless vineyards, boasting some of the most famous names in Italian wine production. A visit to our favourite winery at Bersi Serlini awaits, it’s impossible not to love it.

This evening we will take the ferry to Monte Isola, Iseo’s largest and most beautiful island, for a dinner in an exquisite restaurant overlooking the lake. Monte Isola is the largest island within a lake in Europe.

    Franciacorta

  4. Day 4

    30km | Flat

This morning we take a transfer from Lake Iseo to the northern part of Lake Garda, you will have time to unpack and have a small lunch in this beautiful town.

In the afternoon we will take a short bike ride from Torbole towards Limone riding on the hanging bridge overlooking the lake. The lemon plantations nestled along the rock face of Lake Garda provide a stunning backdrop to today’s ride.

Lake Garda | Hote Centrale | Torbole

  5. Day 5

    68km | Rolling

This morning we ride along the bike path from Torbole up north away from the lake riding through apple orchards while enjoying the breath taking views, we will make our way around the mountain decent back towards Riva.

In the afternoon enjoy a stroll in the city centre and maybe partake in a local aperitivo overlooking the lake.

    Valle di Ledro

  6. Day 6

    2 hour | waterfall visit

This morning we will transfer down south towards Valpolicella where we will check in at our enchanting Villa. After some refreshments we set off for the waterfalls on an afternoon walk at the Cascate di Molina.

    Valpolicella | Villagiona

  7. Day 7

    48km | Rolling

Today is the last ride, we will be riding on quiet roads through beautiful vineyards and over some hills to enjoy the stunning vistas of Valpolicella. Then we’re off to discover the secrets of how Amarone wine is made.

This evening we will say our goodbyes, while enjoying a local dish of risotto di amarone in a beautiful family restaurant nestled amongst the vineyards.

    Valpolicella | Villagiona

The nuts and Bolts

Useful information about your holiday

Still Undecided?

If possible I would give Clive and his team 6 stars. From the moment we were met at the train station until dropped at a different one 6 days later the team were fantastic. John Lee was our main guide and his riding ability, guidance and friendliness were outstanding. Alberto and Jacqueline were also great. And the hotel, meals and stops along the rides were all great. Thanks very much and we will both highly recommend you and come back!

Riding in the Northern Lakes

The general road conditions in the Northern Lakes are very good but can be effective by weather events. One must consider that the roads are shared with car owners and bikers. For these reasons our experience guides may adjust the ride times as necessary.

Cuisine

The food is excellent in the region. Restaurants now cater for both vegan and vegetarians. Homemade local wines and beer a must to try.

Hotel Facilities

The hotels on this tour have spas and we recommend bringing swimming costumes. Hotels also have laundry service, good Wi-Fi and bar service. Hotels may charge extra for the use of these facilities.

Private Tours & Groups

We welcome the opportunity to discuss with you a private tour should you be in a group of more than six people. The private tour allows you to choose dates and personalise the itinerary according to your requirements.

Weather

The weather in the Northern Lakes is generally fine and sunny. Our experienced guides will amend rides, routes and timings to ensure you are riding in safe and hopefully sunny conditions.
