Stages of your Tour

  1. Benvenuto and Leg Loosener

    27km, Flat.

Welcome to Italy. As is customary with Italy Bike Tours’ holidays, you will be met by one of our friendly team at the airport or designated meeting point who will transfer you to La Pieve Lake Hotel. On arrival we will assist with bags and check-in before we ready your bikes for an afternoon ride to stretch the legs and check bikes are perfect for you. Dinner will be served in the hotel resturant with views over Lake Iseo.

  2. franciacorta

    74km, 450m climb.

After a sumptuous breakfast served al fresco style by the side of the pool, we will hop on the bikes after a quick safety talk, and the ride will commence with a gentle ride to the west of Lake Iseo. Much of the ride is on the cycle path and the 9km from Velo to Toline is nothing short of sensational. Our destination is Franciacorta wine region and the beautiful vineyard Cantina La Montina. On arrival we have planned a tour, wine tasting and of course some cheese and local hams to enjoy. The ride back to the hotel is optional and for those that do, the total ride is 48km’s. Dinner this evening is served in Pisogne’s historic centre.

    Franciacorta

  3. Val Camonica

    46km, 270m climb.

After the obligatory brioche and great coffee, we are off on the bikes heading north on the cycle path that takes us through Val Camonica. A valley blessed with crystal clear rivers and majestic mountains that rise high above and sore in the blue sky. Today’s ride is largely flat, and our destination is the alpine town of Capo di Ponte. Here we will stop to explore the town and start our organised tour of the UNESCO tourist site learning the history behind the world-famous rock drawings. A journey back to pre-iron age and life before bikes! Those that wish, may like to ride back or those that prefer can hop in the van and arrive and enjoy the hotel pool before the others arrive. Dinner this evening is enjoyed in the very special Vulcano Ristorante.

    Val Camonica

  4. Monte Isola

    45km, flat.

No trip to Lake Iseo is complete without a ride around Italy’s firth largest lake. This is simply cycling paradise and to ride this road is to enjoy the very best of Italy. An Italy not yet spoilt by mass tourism of any sort. With the lake to our left-hand side we ride to Riva di Solto and enjoy coffee whilst waiting for the boat to take us the short journey to Monte Isola. This famed island is now synonymous with the artist Christo and the floating piers. On arrival at the island we will enjoy the ride around the carefree 8km before enjoying lunch in what was the ancient castle but now a fabulous restaurant. The boat ride back to mainland and pedal back to the hotel is wonderful. This evening you are free to explore the town and its many restaurants and bars.

    Monte Isola – Bergamasco coast.

  5. Bergamo

45km, 100m climb. *optional ride from hotel

This morning we transfer you via van the short distance (but uphill!) to Clusone in the next Valley. This charming town is well worth a visit and you will have plenty of time to enjoy the town before we hop on the bikes and enjoy the ride through Val Seriana to Bergamo Città Alta. The capital of the province, Bergamo Città Alta is now one of the most visited cities for those visiting Italy wanting to discover ‘unspoilt Italy’. The ride is primarily on cycle paths which allows you to chat, take photos and marvel at the beautiful surroundings. On arrival at Città Alta we will of course enjoy ice cream (before or after lunch!) and enjoy the local Casoncelli dish! Indeed, we have arranged for you during the week to learn the special technique of making this pasta dish. This evening dinner will be enjoyed in the hotel restaurant, a chance to reflect on your holiday and think about your next cycling adventure with Italy Bike Tours.

  6. Arrivederci!

Sadly, all good things must come to an end and we will be delighted to assist you with your onward travel, or should you wish we would be happy to arrange more days of beautiful cycling in Italy.

I am just back from an incredible 10 days of riding The Best of Alps and Dolomites tour. I can’t thank Italy Bike Tours enough. These guys day in day out went the extra mile for me and fellow guests. I have made friends I will keep for a lifetime on this trip. The Stelvio was on my bucket list for many years. It didn’t disappoint. I have been with several other operators but never returned. I will be returning to Italy Bike Tours as soon as I can. Thank you Alberto and the team!
